Fernando Alonso feels optimistic about remainder of 2012 ? Formula 1 news
Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso has said that he attained the desired result in the Indian Grand Prix and is now feeling optimistic about remainder of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Alonso performed tremendously well in the preceding race held at Buddh International Circuit last week and secured an incredible second podium finish after qualifying for 5th grid slot.
Even though, he is now 13 points behind his main rival, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing who has claimed his fourth consecutive victory in the last race. Nevertheless, he is not feeling disappointed and is confidently looking forward to fight back in the forthcoming races.
Furthermore, he said that the defending champions have performed impressively well in the preceding few races and have successfully managed to maximise their potential.
Moreover, he said that they are very pleased with their overall progress in the season so far and will fight until the end.
?It's not easy at the moment to fight Red Bull but we will never give up,? he said. ?We are happy today and we have to congratulate them, they were fantastic this weekend. We want to be happy and we want to be fighting them in Brazil so I'm sure we will do it.?
Besides, he said that they have minimised the expected damage after securing second place finish in the previous race. Additionally, he said that they are positively looking forward to perform well in the remaining three grands prix of the current season.
?We lost points but I think this was more or less the plan this weekend because we knew we were not fast enough to compete against them. We lost the minimum points by finishing second, but as I said, better races will come,? he added.
The Spaniard said that they really need to make the substantial step-ups to enhance the pace of their car in order to reduce the gap to the veteran German driver in the upcoming races.
The two-time world champion has performed inspiringly well in the season until now and it will be interesting to see how he shows up in the approaching races.
